This is a work in progress of a Java application that will plot the horse power and torque curves of my 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII Stock USA Version, 91 Octane "California" pump gas.

This Java applet requires Sun Microsystem's Java 5.0 the graphs are drawn in real time, no, they are not static images.

Derivative: Basically the slope of the function or data. Rise over run. Its a measure of how the data is changing. E.g: A constant slope value means you are pressing the accelator at the same rate until you hit the floor board. A slope of 0 means no change (you're crusing down the highway at the posted 65MPH). A changing slope means you are varying the rate you are pushing on the accelerator (it might take you 3 seconds to get to 1/2 throttle, then 1.5 seconds to get to WOT. The graph would then slope upwards and come down sharply to 0 once your hit the floor board. In other words, anything above 0 and you are gaining. Anything below 0 and you are loosing. On this graph, I go negative at about 6200RPM. As I increase in RPM, I generate less horsepower, so its time to shift.
